GIANMARCO PORRU

Born in Oristano (Sardinia) and based in Milan, he trained at the Brera Academy with a focus on theatre. In 2020 he has participated in BACK_UP organized by Fondazione Nivola. In 2019 he was selected for the training program called Q-Rated organized by La Quadriennale in Rome at the MAN Museum, for the workshop organized by Teatro Valdoca directed by Cesare Ronconi, and participated in Teatrum Botanicum. Senza Titolo (molto vicino al cielo) and MALEDETTA are two of his works.

GianMarco Porru artistic research is centered on written and oral stories which are the cultural heritage of some communities, so he moves on the border between ethnography and anthropology to create his performances.

L.S.P.D. is based on Le Sacre du printemps by Igor Stravinsky choreographed by Vaclav Nižinskij. This ballet is reread and deconstructed and used as a lens to analyse community-based practices in the Mediterranean, by focusing in particular on pagan celebrations linked to the cycle of seasons and key events for the history of the community itself.

The dancers readapt patterns of movements documented in ethnographic museums, from amateur footage and from the body and living memory of people by investigating the body languages which have consolidated in time during those ritual celebrations.

L.S.P.D. is the outcome of a long-term performative research project started in 2019 thanks to the support of DanceHauspiù and Sardinia Film Commission.
